AR Management Shell - Remote Server not connecting

Hi,

I typically write and execute all my PowerShell scripts that need to interact with AR from the AR Server itself and that's been no issues.

I always use the below and this connects with no issues.

$QADServer = "SERVERNAME"
 Connect-QADService -Service $QADServer -Proxy

I have a requirement where i need to connect to the AR Service from a remote server to run some PowerShell code.

Just as a test i knocked up the blow.

$Password = ConvertTo-SecureString "PasswordHere" -AsPlainText -Force

Connect-QADService `
-Service "SERVERNAME" `
-ConnectionAccount "DOMAIN\Account" `
-ConnectionPassword $Password

This then returns the error below.

Connect-QADService : Server not exist or could not be contacted: SERVERNAME

It does not matter how i try and connect i keep getting the same message.

I can open the MMC console with no issues so it does connect with that , no issues at all..

Am i missing something?

  • Thanks Richard. Sorry i should have said i did try the -Proxy switch and get

    Connect-QADService : Invalid syntax (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800401E4 (MK_E_SYNTAX))

I am logged on to my remote server with an account that has right in ARS as i can open the MMC and do what i have set.

Even just running the command below gives me the error above

    Connect-QADService -Proxy -Service "SERVERNAME"
