HOW TO: Perform a Split Pair upgrade in TPAM

There are 2 different ways that TPAM can be upgraded:

1. The upgrade is applied to the Primary appliance and is then automatically applied to all Replica appliances.
2. The upgrade is applied separately to the Primary and each Replica in the Cluster.

While the second option does involve more manual work, there are certain advantages. By upgrading the appliances individually, only one will be out of service at a time. The allows the others to be available for use. Also, if you encounter an issue during the upgrade, it will not affect the other Cluster members.

It is also possible to upgrade the Replica separately after an attempt to replicate the upgrade has failed. If the Primary does not push the upgrade properly to the Replica, you simply have to login to the Replica and apply the upgrade manually. The Primary and Replica must be on the same version for replication to work.
