Patching

I am currently at 2.5.919 - behind yes, but under direction from hq.

what do I need to do to get to 2.5.920 first?

what os patch and hot fixes and how do I do it ? Each machine or let it replicate?

newbie to this appliance even though I set up some of it.

  • Does this seem right to you?

    after following split reboot:

    First do the OS Patch:

    OSPatch 3106991

then RSA hotfix prior to upgrade, Hotfix_7196v2.zip

    Upgrade to 2.5.920

    Install  the paa console 2.5.920

    then 2 hotfixes 10189 and 10343

    Upgrade to 2.5.921

then do the paa console 2.5.921

    then do the 3 hotfixes 10280, 10316 and 10350

Reboots after each patch and console upgrade - so OS patch, reboot, RSA, reboot, 2.5.920 reboot, 10189, reboot, 10343 reboot then 2.5.921 reboot, 10280, reboot, 10280, reboot and then 10350 reboot?

Then do the other appliance the same way provided all went well?  Them be a lot or reboots!

  • You can reboot after each patch. There is no harm in doing so, but it is a bit of a nuissance. Not every hotfix requires a reboot. It depends on what the hotfix is changing. I would have to research each hotfix to determine which require a hotfix or not. If you have the release notes for each one, it usually states if a reboot is required.

  • Clint - your instructions were perfect - I was able to upgrade both active and standby appliances yesterday with no issues.   A little scary as I was doing this remotely and was at the mercy of the machines to come back uneventfully!  Thanks so much - I did reboot after each patch, hotfix etc :-)
