I'm searching the best practice to move a web application from server A (OneIM 7) to server B (OneIM 8.1.4).
I'm thinking to do an export and an import.
There is a best way or some advice to do that
Thanks

Hi Stefano,
usually you make transports from Dev to QA to Prod.
So I suggest to transport all the dev 7.1 to 8.1.4, then to QA 8.1.4 and then to Prod 8.1.4, and make all your necessary staging tests and development.
And a transport FROM Prod is always safe.
What I'm not getting here is the following:
Why did you start your 8.1.4 from scratch? Usually if you have your 3 environments, all customizations in dev should have been migrated, and therefore can be used.
Are we all sure here, that we are talking about extensions, object copy's and changed config parms, which are all saved in DialogAEDS?

Hi Geraldine.
My question is simple.
I created and customized a new web application in test env (es. oneid_server/.../)
How can I move the mywebapp in production env? There is a way?
I read "Exporting a module from the database to the hard drive" in https://support.oneidentity.com/it-it/technical-documents/identity-manager/8.1.4/web-designer-reference-guide/14 but it's unclear. Could I move the solution to filesystem and them import it to a different server?
Thanks
Hi Stefano,
then you should transport your changes to the new db, like you you transport all your other changes. And install a new Web Application on the new server. That's the recommended way.
If you have made changes to e.g. the web config, you have to make them manually again. I do not recommend to copy it, as this will end in errors.
HTH,
Geraldine
