Add Users directly to M365 groups in workflow or policies

There are known issues affecting Modern Auth in v7.4.3/v7.4.4 (e.g., see Support article 334000); is your tenant configured for Modern Auth?

Hi Shawn.Ferrier , yes our tenant is configured for modern auth however we have disabled this but not had much luck. Have you been able to add a hybrid user to a M365 group (cloud only) using a workflow or provisioning policy? Additionally are you able to create a cloud only contact as part of a workflow or provisioning policy? We have upgraded to 7.4.5 but I'm not sure what functionality has been included from 7.4.4 for cloud objects? 

Indeed the new v7.4.5 release is supposed to have addressed the Modern Auth issues than v7.4.3/4 struggled with. I hadn't actually tested the v7.4.5 workflows yet, but just did try. My first attempts have so far been unsuccessful. I've gone ahead and opened a Support case to see if I can get mine to work, and will post here the results.

We have got around the modern auth issue using app-only for permissions rather than disabling modern auth completely - App-only authentication | Microsoft Docs

This has therefore resolved the issue with cloud only contacts but we'd like to be able to add users to M365 groups (cloud only) using workflows, ideally also for Azure security groups (cloud only, not synced from on-premise) however this still doesn't look possible in 7.4.5 Shawn.Ferrier
