The bookmark option is potentially handy but I am not clear on the distinction between an “Application” vs. a “Group”:

  • Hi JohnnyQuest,

"Application" and "Group" are platform-specific terminology.

    What is an application?

    • Application implies forum, blog, wiki, media gallery, and ideas. You can read more on each application type in the user docs.

    What is a group?

    • Group implies the top level area that houses these applications.

On this community, for example, /community/products is a group; /community/product/active-administrator is a group (a sub-group of /products); and Forum is the group application.

    Hope that helps!

  • A follow-up question: I am being offered the ability to bookmark a thread. There’s no “Thread” button so where is that bookmark going to go? Content?
  • That's right.

"Content" is the lowest denominator. That is the thread or it could also be a wiki article, a blog post or any post under the applications I listed earlier. This is probably why Telligent chose to group the possible content types under one "content" category. Think of “content” as “post”. Might’ve been a better label for it. :)
