DBQueue: Is reset

Hi,

We know that the DBQueue in Identity Manager is a mostly self-maintaining system and includes watchdogs and maintenance tasks that keep the system on track.

In that context how would we clarify the meaning of the 'Is reset' field as shown in Job Queue Info?  What does it mean and should I care if a DBQueue task is in 'Is reset' state?  Might it imply some operational tasks to be performed?  Would it be of concern only if that state persisted over time or if there were a lot of them for example?  Or is it just a perfectly normal state :-).

thanks,

Rob.

  • Hi Rob,

As I understand it, typically a dbqueue job will go in to the 'is reset' state if it determines that 'something else' is running that either means it shouldn't run 'yet' or it can't run 'yet'. I have seen this happen with group membership recalcs in AD. Typically the membership recalcs will 'reset' until the whole of the sync is finished ...... i.e. there is no point in doing the recalc until the sync has finished completely and we have the full known set of data changes to work with. 'Is reset' should only ever be temporary. If you see it persist and 'everything' else is clear ..... jobqueue/dbqueue, take a look in the the db journal ..... could be that you have a problematic stored procedure calculation. 'Is reset' can persist if you have frozen jobs of certain types so watch out for that as well.

Others may be able to add more but that's been my general understanding.

    Regards, Barry.
