Delegation

Hi All,

We have many requests waiting for approval from a person however the person is on vacation and hasn't delegated his roles.

As an admin, is it possible that i can delegate the roles of this user to another person in 1IM.

If yes, please let me know how this can be done.

Thanks

Jai

  • Hi

Isn't this enhanced in the identity manager version 8 and above?

We have chief approval team in IT shop, they should be able to do it. However, I just verified in my production and I got permission error. I am using version 8.0.2. This is a very common scenario in a corporate and there should be out of box support for this.

    Best regards,

  • The chief approval team is able to approve any request therefor, no delegation is necessary. As implied by the name, it is not meant to administer delegations.

  • True. Chief approval team can only approve or route request to someone who is authorized to approve on the go. However, assume that approver who is on vacation has too many requests coming his way. Imagine an operational scenario where a member of chief approval team has to delegate each request separately.

If he can just configure delegation on his (approver on leave), he can avoid all the hassle.

  • And if the chief approval team member would be able to create such a delegation, another person (the delegate) would need to approve. So it would be merely a shift of workload so that he can avoid all the hassle.

But this is a philosophical discussion because some companies and auditors would deny such a delegation because of audit reasons, and some other companies would love to ease their operational efforts.

I just wanted to point out the reason why the chief approval team is unable to create a generic delegation. This would be part of either a generic operational team (as you proposed) or part of the employee administrators.
