Exchange HYBRID set up to overcome outstanding status for exchange objects

Exchange team has migrated 90% mailboxes to cloud that's why 1IM sync process marked exchange objects as outstanding, and doesn't allow any operation on them. We already have "AD", "Exchange" and "AzureAD" connector syncing data from respective target systems.

My use case is to remove outstanding status in 1IM DB from all active exchange objects. Heard about HYBRID extension for exchange objects in 1IM, Is it possible to create mapping between online vs on-prem exchange objects using Hybrid mode?

  • Hi,

Recent versions of One Identity Manager support a full view onto hybrid Exchange deployments with an enhanced Exchange Connector.  Be sure to install the Exchange hybrid database module.

If you sync all the environments (AD, AAD, Exchange on-line, Exchange on-prem) then you will see all the relationships between objects.  For example, the Person linked to the AD, AAD,  exchange online and exchange remote mailbox objects. This centralized view is a really powerful tool to help manage the inherent complexity in these hybrid environments.

It is normal to see transient outstanding states as you migrate mailboxes and then sync with One Identity Manager.  After validation you will typically just choose to Delete these obsolete objects from the One Identity Manager database using the Target Synchronization view in Manager.  You will also usually see outstanding online email user contact objects after sync as these objects are removed from exchange online (usually by AADConnect) once the on-prem mailbox is migrated.
