Multiple network adapters in the OneIM servers

Hello,

customer need to add a new Target System which is located on a subnet of the network, different from the one where the OneIM is installed. To grant the connection between IGA and the Target, they want to install a second network adapter on all the VMWare machines where the IGA is installed.

Having 2 network adapters it could be a problem in this configuration? OneIM could automatically switch from using a network adapter instead of another one?. OneIM could switch automatically the network adapter for connecting to the Target System or there is a documentation to configure OneIM for switching from a network to another, for specific targets?

Thanks.
Kind regards.

Felice

  • Hi,

Which other OneIM services do you have installed on these machines?

    • JobServer? Is the remote connect plugin also installed?
    • Web interfaces, such as API or portals?
    • DB?

These ones will normally bind  (except db) to all addresses in the machine, but have options to listen in different network addresses, so bear this in mind. Same applies when connecting to the target system. It's a OS task, nothing to do with OneIM.

Imho I would setup a stand alone router+fw in the network instead of this two nic configuration. It is far more reliable and more secure.

  • Hi Juancarlos,

thanks for your answer. The new target system will be installed in a brand new subnet, so the entire OneIM infrastructure will be on a subnet while the new target in a new one. For this reason they will install a new network adapter on the OneIM servers (jobserver, workstation) to bind the new target system's addressess.

  • You'll find no problem at all as long as the jobserver that connects to the new target system is able to reach the corresponding subnet. You'll need access to that subnet to make the sync project configuration, but later all operations will be carried out by the job server, so maybe you can simplify the configuration.
