ARS serer role migration from 2008R2 to 2016 operating system

Hi All,

 

2008R2 is End of life. I have ARS server hosted in 2008R2 want to move my ARS to 2016 servers. May I know the steps to do it?

My ARS version 7.2

    #1. in general, many custoemr use Upgrade in-parallel to switch underlying Windows OS version and SQL Version.(W2008R2 -> W2016, SQL2008 -> SQL2016).
    #2: Without Upgrade:
    a) Promote new W2016 Server
    b) Install same ARS version (7.2) on the W2016 and join to the existing AR (W2008R2) and existing SQL DB.
    c) Test W2016 AR runs fine.
    e) uninstall W2008R2 AR Admin Service

    Result: AR running on W2016 pointing to the legacy SQL DB.
    #3. maybe you need to move DB to new SQL version?
