getting error while using search in Web portal

HI,

Upon using search in Web Portal, i am getting following error message.

 

An exception has occurred while executing the form method F1_ctl00_ControlRef8_ControlRef15_ControlRef15_ControlRef8b_Main_Main_ObjectSwitchContainer1_GridBand1_gridLoader_ctl02_GridSearchBox.
One or more errors occurred.
One or more errors occurred.
Application server returned an error.
Internal Server Error
Type definitions should start with a '{', expecting serialized type 'ErrorResponse', got string starting with: <!DOCTYPE html>

Any pointers on what has gone wrong?

    Hi Trevor,
    Thanks for your reply. I checked web.config file in web config editor and I can see application server URL here but when I tried accessing this URL in chrome, it threw 404 error. what can be the cause?
