Difference and uses of CentralPassword@Person and DialogUserPassword@Person

Hi, I'm using version 8. I can see that DialogUserPassword is the one that is used for authentication against the web portal. Is it used for anything else? What is the central password used for? Why are there two fields for password?

  • DialogUserPassword, as you have seen, is used by the Employee authenticators.  CentralPassword is used to change passwords on downstream target systems.  They are separate because we don't normally keep the value for CentralPassword.  It is written to the DB, then erased once the downstream targets are changed.
