Upgrade ARS 6.8 and Upgrad Server OS and SQL-Version - All in one step possible?

Hello All,

I have to upgrade ARS from Version 6.8 to an up-to-date Version. And I also have to update the Server OS and SQL-Version. For my understanding of the ARS update path document I first have to update to Version 6.9 before I can go to Version 7.2 or 7.3.

Now my question, Is there a way to install a fresh Server AR 7.3 and then export all settings from Server 6.8 and import these settings in the total new server?

I found these document "ActiveRoles_7.3_Configuration_Transfer_Wizard_Administration_Guide", which is described as compatibility with Version 6.7 to 7.3

Is this a valid solution? Build a total new ARS Version 7.3 and import all settings from these "Configuration Transfer Wizard"? And if yes, is it also possible to import the management history of ARS Server 6.8?

Many  thanks for help on these question!

  • The upgrade process itself involves two key steps:

    1) Install of the new version on your new platform.

    2) Upgrade of the databases

    The database upgrade portion of the process for your Configuration (and, if separate) management history databases will import the "settings" for you so you don't have to use the configuration transfer wizard.

    So in your case, you will perform two of these database upgrades:

    6.8 --> 6.9

    6.9 --> 7,3

    You can install v 6.9 on your new platform, import the data from 6.8 and then do your 7.3 upgrade.  Once the 7.3 upgrade is completed, you can uninstall 6.9.

  • And where do I get Version 6.9? It is out of support, and will be not visible from the download page. Therefore my idea to use the configuration transfer wizard.
