AD update schema error

Hi Experts,

We have exported AD sync project from Synchronization editor and imported it to on new environment.

After importing it, we have updated connection details to Target system for new Active Directory then we are trying to update schema.

We are receiving below error while updating AD schema after changing connection details in new setup.

Error updating schema of system connection (Active Directory Service (Root DN dc=xxx,dc=xxx))!
The element (ms-Exch-Extension-Attribute-1) cannot be removed from list (Properties) of object ( (contact)) because is it still being used by other elements.

Property mapping rule: Attribute extension 01 <-> ms-Exch-Extension-Attribute-1

Please help us to resolve this ASAP.

As you mention ASAP, I assume you are having troubles in your production system. If so please contact support to handle this properly.

HI Markus,

It is pre-production system but I have to run sync with AD but unable to do due to this error, so mentioned ASAP.

ASAP implies that someone or anyone should answer as fast as possible which is an uncommon scenario for a community.

Are both AD using the same schema version?

Does the schema of the new AD contain the schema property ms-Exch-Extension-Attribute-1 at the contact object? You can check that with the Microsoft tools.

If not, than then synchronization project is not compatible between both AD installations. You have at least to remove all the mapping rules that utilize this (and properly the other Exchange Extensions Attributes as well).
