CSV connector configuration issue

I am not an expert for the OnDemand side of things, but OOTB there is no template for the property Person.IsExternal.

Can you share your template please?

In the Designer, I put "Value = true" in the Person.IsExternal property template, so the IsExternal field is true by default.

The system needs a hint, that you don't want to apply your "default template" in case of your imported data.

The best practice would be to set the property Person.ImportSource to IMPORT and rewriting your template to something like

If $ImportSource$ = "IMPORT Then
    Value = False
Else
    Value = True
End If

My problem is not just that the value of the field "IsExternal" is true or false, but that if I flag or not the "Data import" option in the Workflow settings the behavior is the same, that is it always takes into account the template, instead it should not take it into account if the option "Data import" is not set. 
Also, I cannot change the template like you say, because I cannot know if I will have a true or false value for IsExternal, for example.

I think this has something to do with your template which - I assume - has been detected has Default Value in combination with a set "Overwrites" flag.

If so, you could change your template to (assuming you set the ImportSource value to "IMPORT" in the CSV sync).

May I ask what the use-case for your default value is and what version of OneIM you are using?

By the way, I tried to reproduce your issue using the template Value = True for the IsExternal property and had no issue at all setting set IsExternal property to False during the import.

But my "Overwriting" flag was disabled and I used version 8.1.5 to test this.

Also in my case the "Overwrites" flag is not set.

I think the problem is not the single template, because I have other templates (for example for the defaultEmailAddress field) and the problem is the same: I cannot set the field value with the value from the connector import file instead of the value from the field template. So it's not just with the IsExternal field, but with all fields for which I have a template. But this happens only in this environment, if I try it in the OIM demo environment everything seems to work correctly.

Am I right when I assume that the connection against the OneIM database is using an Application Server connection in your synchronization project?

Please try to check the FullSync variable than in the templates like in the following sample.

I changed the template and tried this script (with the ImportSource value to "HRCSV" in the CSV file):

When I run the CSV connector and try to insert an employee, the script works fine and the value of the isExternal field is correct. However, when I try to insert a user from Web Portal or Manager the result is not as expected. Specifically, when I try to enter a user from Web Portal or Manager the expected result is "True", but I always get "False" (I've also tried inverting the value for testing, but the behavior doesn't change). Maybe it goes through an exception. What could be the error?

Just for clarification, you're checking the value, after you have saved the person?

I solved it by assigning a static value to the ImportSource variable and then I put a check on its value in the IsExternal template.
